Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Thomas L. Kelly

The great contributors to the cultural heritage of Nepal were from the Mall dynasty, founded in 1350 by Jayasthith Malla. Their six-hundred year reign ushered in many great artistic and architectural achievements. One of the spirit patrons of art and architecture in the sixth-century period was Bhupatindra Malla (16596-1722) of Bhaktapur, shown here praying before the golden gate entrance to the Taleju Temple.
