Solophok Chardham, Namchi, South Sikkim

Hanuman Tok is highly reverred and holy temple dedicated to Lord Hanuma (monkey god), located at the altitude of 7200 ft. in East Sikkim, 11kms from the Gangtok town. It is believed that lord Hanuman, while on His way to Lanka from the Himalayas with the Sanjeevani herb to cure Lakshman, too moments to rest on this feature. The temple is popularly known as wish fulfilling temple and offers a magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga Peak, Sikkim, India. As the Legend goes, the locals were worshipping a stone at this place for centuries. In 1950s, then an Indian Political Officer Shri Appaji Pant had a divine dream and accordingly a Holy Red Idol of Hanuman was installed at this place. Since then this p-lace has been known as Hanuman Tok. This temple is located within the boundaries of defence land. Since 1968 when the land was formally handed over to the Army, the temple is maintained, developed and preserved by units of 17 mountain Division.
