Bangladesh faces a showdown on the first anniversary of controversial elections, as the opposition leader called for mass anti-government protests despite being confined to her office.
Garment factory owners and other business leaders joined hands and waved national flags in Dhaka and other major cities, calling for an end to the opposition-led strikes and nationwide transport blockade.
Transport company people wear white, that symbolize mourning, while they protest against Khaleda Zia for a month long political unrest, one block away from here residence in Dhaka. They also rallied burnt and destroyed vehicles during the demonstration. Khaleda Zia is a leader of Bangladesh's second biggest political party, BNP, who is heavily constraining public life and business by calling campaign of protests and transport blockades activity since January 3-2015 on the anniversary of last year's general election.
Protesters told the Dhaka rally the economy suffered 10 billon in losses and some 79 people have been killed in the violence, as opposition activists firebomb trucks, buses and cars in the 33 days since opposition leader Khaleda Zia called the protests to try to topple the government.
