Traditional frescos or wall paintings at chapels inside Kumbum dates back to the fifteenth century and are done by Newari (Nepalese) craftsmen. Gyantse, Tibet. Seen here is Avalokiteswara.
It is the first chapel inside Kumbum. Buddha Sakyamuni is shown seated in the posture of 'turning the wheel of Dharma'. At his sides his two chief arhat disciples, Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, are gracefully dipicted. Gyantse. Tibet.
